Surge Protection

Power surges are unpredictable, and are caused by various phenomena such as supply faults by service suppliers, faulty appliances, storms and many more. With electric systems getting even more complex, a very small power surge may cause big problems in these systems resulting in irreparable damage.

Often power surges are a result of an interruption in the flow of power, then established again or directing power back into the infrastructure, such as by lightning. The live cable or primary power line at a surge protector includes an additional linked connection that feeds into a ground cable. An earth cable’s purpose would be to direct any additional current safely to the ground. The surge link in the shield remains inactive until a bigger than normal voltage appears. This excess current is then safely diverted through the excess earth cable, right into the floor. This prevents more current than normal from flowing into your appliances effectively ensuring they are protected from any harm which could be caused by power surges.
